Technology
Technology is an essential part of real-world learning. At Hualalai Academy computers are provided with a minimum student: computer ratio of 2:1. Computers are an integrated tool used in all areas of the curriculum. Student proficiency and literacy is our goal. The following standards are followed in our classrooms as is appropriate for the various grade levels:
Standard 1: Basic Operations And Concepts
Students demonstrate a sound understanding of the nature and operation of technology systems.
Standard 2: Technological Literacy
Students develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to design, modify, use, and apply technology; become technological problem-solvers; make informed choices and decisions about technology; and advocate for and support responsible technological behavior.
Standard 3: Technology As A Tool For Productivity
Students use technology tools to enhance learning, increase productivity, and promote creativity. Students use productivity tools to collaborate in constructing technology-enhanced models, preparing publications, and producing other creative works.
Standard 4: Technology As A Tool For Research
Students use technology to locate, evaluate, and collect information from a variety of sources. Students are encouraged to be active participants in the learning process through project-centered approaches, using computers and other technology, with opportunities for collaborative and individual efforts.
