Annual Fund Drive - 100 % Tax Deductible
Why this drive is so important - Annual Drives directly support the day-to-day educational experience of our students and is critical to the continued growth and success of our school.  This unrestricted money helps make up the shortfall between tuition income and operational expenses; and helps to fund such essentials as teacher's salaries, classroom resources, bus maintenance, and utilities.

How much should I give?
Everyone's ability to give is different, and every donation from $5 to $5,000,000 is honored.  What is important is that you give - foundations, businesses, and other such potential funders are always interested in how the faculty, board, parents, alumni, and community at large support our school.  Your contribution shows that you are committed to Hualalai's success and your stewardship places the school in a better position to receive these highly competitive funds.

How do I give?
The campaign begins each fall once everyone has settled into school.  Letters are sent out to school families and friends recommending a minimum tax-deductible gift to the Annual Fund, which is based on the school's budget and needs that year.  Gifts can be made by mail, in person at the school, or online.

How do I get involved?
Families who are able are encouraged to take leadership roles in the school's emerging development structure. Larger gifts are greatly appreciated and recognized. Active involvement as an Annual Fund Chair, solicitor, or event organizer are crucial roles parents and guardians play to ensure a successful campaign.

Ways to Give

Capital Campaign
Hualalai Academy must raise the money to buy our land. The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation has offered a matching grant of one-third of the purchase price and the Atherton Family Foundation made a pledge of $100,000. Cash received as of February 28, 2010 is $141,876 and we currently have pledge balances of $288,373 for a total of $430,249, so, as of the Spring of 2010, we are 54% of the way there. We need to raise an additional $361,751 by June 2011 when the matching grant expires. We ask you to join with the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation, the Atherton Family Foundation, the faculty, staff, alumni, board, and friends of Hualalai Academy, and the Kailua-Kona community in supporting Hualalai Academy with a contribution. Endowments
Hualalai Academy has two endowments: 1) Capital Improvements, which insures the proper maintenance of the school's buildings and grounds, and 2) Financial Aid, which helps the diversity of students.

By making a gift to either of these funds, donors leave a distinct and lasting imprint on the future of the school, filling a need and providing for its students and its facilities for many years to come.

A gift to the Endowment can be made at any time. Pledges may be paid in a single payment or in installments. Gifts to the endowment fund are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law.
